There isn't a day that goes by wherein we do not hear or see the phrase "God Bless America". This is great in itself. But, what God? And who's God?
We all proclaim our own ideologies on the subject and there are many religions as well as gods in this great country. All believe themselves to be right whether worshipping the only one TRUE Almighty God, Lord and Creator of the universe (Psalm 83: 18) or whether it is the devil that is worshipped.
As a people in what is known to be a nation built on Christian ethics, we need to take a second look at what we are asking God to bless.
I, as a person living in America and descended from the native peoples of our land, and a born again Christian, am proud to be an American. But I am first to uphold the Kingdom of God for He is from eternity to eternity without end (Revelation 1: 8). Second on my list is that I am proud to be a Native American, from a people as old as the land - so to speak.
We as Christians need to ask a few questions here. Why bless America? When we pray to God, the Creator of all, and ask Him to bless the U.S.A, are we asking for Him (Almighty God) to bless the immorality of it also? This is a great country and we have many freedoms. But freedoms of what?
There are bills in the House and Senate, which, if made into laws, will control our worship, and how we give praise to God. Yet the people who worship satan are freer to worship their way then ever before. We are passive Christians. Do we ask God to bless a country which takes prayer out of the schools, Bibles and other Christian material away from our desk at the work place? How about a nation that tells us we have to marry homosexuals and then allow them to preach and teach in our churches?
Now comes another thought. What about our Christian friends in the war torn areas of the globe? Are we forgetting to ask God's blessing on them? What about those Christians that died today for their faith? Do we ask for these also?
When we ask God to bless America, let's keep these things in mind:
1. Before anything else, give God, Jehovah according to Psalm 83:18, the Glory and Praise - Psalm 135:1-3, 1 Timothy 1:17
2. Ask God to bless all His people all over the globe - Psalm 103:21
3. Ask God to guide all those in authoritative positions that each outcome is His will, not ours, whatever it is - Romans 13:1
4. Ask God to open the eyes of the blind, not only in the natural but in the spiritual; that all who do not know Him will have their eyes opened to Him - Revelation 1:3
5. Ask God to bless the persecutors of Christians - Romans 12:14
6. Pray for the sins of the nation, and reconciliation thereof, for Jesus was born, lived, died on a cross, and was resurrected for all of our sins - Hebrews 2:17, 1 John 2:2
Everything that happens is thus because of a purpose, a Divine Purpose. The year 2001 shook America, and the world along with it. For a time many people prayed. Some prayed to the Almighty God, the Alpha and Omega (Revelation 1:8). Others prayed to as many gods as ever since the creation of man. Some prayers have already been answered and some are still going to be, by God Almighty. Some prayers will not be answered because they fall on ears that cannot hear (Psalm 115:5). There is only one true and living God; the same God that was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the midst of the burning fiery furnace; and the same God that was with Daniel all night in a den of lions.
Which God, or god, do you pray to? Is it one who hears and answers prayers? Or a god that just does nothing? Help America by praying - not just in troubled times, but also in the good times. And don't forget to pray for the world, as it is all God's and we a creation of His.
If you would like to know this God of all creation,
